To all members of allstat:
We are Charmine Azajar and Abigail Arnan, students of De La Salle
University, Manila, Philippines. We are presently doing our thesis and we
needed your help.
Rare as the dictionary says means uncommon.
But what does this mean in medical statistics? Is it quantifiable? What I
mean is, is it 1 diseased person per 1000 in a population at a given time
or 1 per 100 or 1 per 10000? Or is it with regarding the proportion of
diseased individuals in the population? Please give a meaning for rare
disease and also what is the difference between an estimator of the
prevalence of a disease and an indicator of the prevalence of a disease.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely yours,
Charmine and Abigail
