I subscribe to both the assume and allstat lists, both lists being available
at mailbase.ac.uk.
However, I have just become the victim of an irritating difference between
the lists. If I use my mailer to reply to a message which comes via the
lists and use "Reply to author" my reply gets posted to THE AUTHOR if the
message originates from allstat (which seems perfectly sensible to me) but
gets posted to the ENTIRE LIST if the message originates from assume (which
seems idiotic to me). Both lists give THE AUTHOR in the From field of the
message.
Has anyone - especially the two list managers concerned - anything helpful
to say on this (in particular I would like to know how to reply to THE
AUTHOR if the message has come from the assume list).
Jim Burridge.
