STATISTICAL ASSISTANT
£14,391 - £16,194 P.A. (Scale 5)
This is a new post in the Statistics Team of the School Improvement Unit. The main responsibilities of the post holder are to support the Statistics Team in the provision of statistical information relevant to the planning, monitoring and evaluation functions of the LEA. We are looking for a person who has the skills, aptitudes and ability to develop within the team. The areas for development depend upon the strengths and experience of the person appointed but will be within the key activities identified for development in the next year or so, which include -
School population forecasting;
School catchment database on GIS;
Developing Crystal reports and automated links between the new Annual Schools Census and LMS formula funding;
Further data analysis to support school improvement.
This vacancy would suit a numerate and logical person who can demonstrate a careful attention to detail and has a working knowledge of spreadsheets, computer applications and the presentation of statistical information, and who is also a good communicator. Previous experience in the Education Service, specialist skills in statistics and research, and a qualification to A Level or HNC/HND standard are essential. A working knowledge of SPSS (a statistical analysis package), the Crystal Report Generator, GIS and database principles, and successful experience in the use of performance data, would also be an advantage.
