RESEARCH ASSISTANT (STATISTICAL) Ref. 99/F375A
Epidemiology and Public Health
This post is available immediately to provide additional
statistical expertise within the Department of Epidemiology
and Public Health. The successful candidate will continue
a programme of analyses of the Caerphilly Prospective Heart
Disease Study under the direction of the Principal
Investigator Dr J Yarnell, and colleagues in Belfast,
Cardiff and Glasgow.
Applicants must have a primary degree (or equivalent) in
mathematics, statistics or a cognate subject with relevant
experience of the application of quantitative methods,
preferably in a medical environment. It is also essential
that applicants have a working knowledge of computers with
experience in using statistical software. A higher degree
in Medical Statistics, or cognate discipline, 2 years'
postgraduate research experience and publication of
research reports are all desirable. There may be an
opportunity to contribute to the teaching programme of the
department, if appropriate.
Salary scale: Research Assistant 1A (max point 6) £15,735 -
£17,570 per annum
Closing date: 28 May 1999
The post is supported by the British Heart Foundation and
is for a fixed period of 2 years.
