Dear all,
I'm having a slightly worrying problem with STATA transfer in moving data
between different formats (in this case Excel to STATA). I can solve the
problem easily by other means, but I did hope that STATA transfer would be
a simple (single) solution for handling data, so that my colleagues
wouldn't continually have to pester me!
2 transfer problems:
--------------------
1) Variables sometimes fail to be transfered if they contain many missing
values. (The offending variables in this case *were* transfered when I
typed a '1' in the first observation).
2) Transfer fails to send over dates - when defined by STATA transfer as
strings or dates. i.e:
Excel INPUT:
------------
P001780
NULL
NULL
12-Jun-92
12-Jun-92
02-Jul-92
02-Jul-92
12-Jun-92
12-Jun-92
19-Jun-92
19-Jun-92
:
STATA OUTPUT:
-------------
P001780 | Freq. Percent Cum.
------------+-----------------------------------
| 3982 93.98 93.98
NULL | 255 6.02 100.00
------------+-----------------------------------
Total | 4237 100.00
