Researcher, CHAMAN project: Sales Forecasting
Fixed Term until 31/12/2000
£14,941 - £22,797 p.a.
A researcher is required to work on the European funded ESPRIT project
CHAMAN. The project has the objective of developing a suite of integrated
supply chain management tools. Specifically the person appointed will
develop a system for sales forecasting of many products, using Bayes-linear
methods, and also the associated interfaces, in particular a graphical user
interface for model development and display of forecasts etc. Prior
knowledge of Bayesian statistics and of time-series methods would therefore
be an advantage. The person appointed will have at least a good honours
degree or equivalent in Statistics or a related discipline with a
substantial statistics content and will be expected to register for a higher
degree if he or she does not already have a Ph.D.
The School of Computing, Engineering and Technology was launched on 1st January
1999 and brings together Computing, Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics
within the University. The School has a growing research profile with several
EPSRC and EU-funded projects. Sunderland was awarded a 3A (Computer Science) and
a 3B (General Engineering) in the 1996 Research Assessment Exercise.
Work on the CHAMAN project is based at the St.Peter's Campus. Computing
facilities are first class.
