Research Assistant / Biostatistician in Tropical Medicine Research

The Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Programme, South East Asia, is a
collaboration between the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine,
the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Thailand and the
Centre for Tropical Diseases, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. The main
areas of research in Thailand are malaria and melioidosis. In Viet Nam
research is being conducted into several tropical infections.
An enthusiastic biostatistician is required to provide statistical
support to this programme of tropical medicine research. The
successful applicant should have experience in study design, analysis,
publication and teaching. The post would be ideally suited to someone
with a higher research degree or equivalent experience in statistics.
The main responsibilities of the post include advising on the most
appropriate method of statistical analysis for each research project,
statistical analysis, writing academic papers, teaching, updating and
teaching of statistical software, and more advanced analyses
(including mathematical modelling). There is ample opportunity to
develop the biostatisticians own lines of research. The statistician
would live in Bangkok but make frequent visits to Viet Nam and other
study sites.
