Applications are invited for a 3 year PhD studentship in the area of
operations research, in conjunction with BG Transco Ltd. The project
will investigate the optimisation of gas blending networks in the UK
National Transmission System and Continental Interconnector.
Applicants should have, or expect to gain, a minimum of a 2.1 Degree
in a numerate discipline (a postgraduate qualification and/or
relevant experience may be used to enhance a lesser degree).
Additionally, knowledge of operations research, optimisation and
numerical analysis would be advantageous. The person appointed will
have a good background in programming with C/C++.
This appointment is open to both UK and EU nationals with immediate
start available. The studentship will provide a standard maintenance
grant of £5455 (98/99) plus fees. Further maintenance support such as
mature students allowances may also apply.
