LECTURER IN STATISTICS
Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Statistics from
candidates with a strong research background in any branch of Statistics,
Probability or Operational Research. Candidates able to contribute to areas
of interdisciplinary research are particularly encouraged to apply,
although they will need to demonstrate that they have made some
significant advance of a theoretical or methodological nature in their
subject.
The Statistics group at Surrey is active in both theoretical and applied
research, and obtained 4A ratings (100% research active academic staff) in
both the 1992 and 1996 Research Assessment Exercises (RAE). Current
research projects are numerous and varied, but mostly cover reliability,
health and medical statistics, extreme value statistics, Bayesian statistics
and theoretical statistics.
Salary will be on the Lecturer Grade A or Grade B Scale (#16,655-#25,535
per annum) according to age, qualifications and experience. Superannuation
is available under USS conditions. The post is available from 1 September
1999.
