LECTURESHIP IN STATISTICS
The Department of Statistics seeks candidates for a permanent
position, to be filled on the Lecturer A-B scales. The research
interests of candidates should lie in an area of Statistics or Medical
Statistics. An appointee at Lecturer B level will be expected to
have a record of substantial publicationsThe Department will also
particularly welcome applications from young researchers with
evidence of outstanding research potential.
The Department has a strong research profile and is one of the
largest in the UK. There are 14 academic staff including 3
professors ( Murray Aitkin, Kevin Glazebrook and John Matthews).
The Department also has 4 research associates and 18 research students in
addition to staff working in its Statistical Consultancy
Service. Research activity ranges widely across Statistics,
Medical Statistics, Probability and theoretical Operational Research.
The Department is committed to a high quality teaching
programme at both undergradate and postgraduate levels.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate an ability to contribute
successfully to this.
