MEDICAL STATISTICIAN
Fixed -term contract for two years in the first instance.
Salary A&C Grade 6 £17,300 - £20,165.
A medical statistician is required to play an important role in introducing and running a statistical consultancy service for researchers in the Southern Derbyshire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and the Academic Divisions of the University of Nottingham based in the Trust.
Reporting to the R&D Manager, you will work as a member of the R&D Office based at Derby City General Hospital to provide statistical advice and support to researchers in a wide variety of specialties across the Trust. You will also help to develop and deliver courses on statistics, particularly to those new to research. There will be formal links with the Trent Institute for Health Services Research based within the University of Nottingham, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and informal links with the statistics unit of the MRC. This will provide you with opportunities to work with and learn from senior statisticians.
The successful applicant will be a graduate and will possess, or be studying for, a MSc in Medical Statistics. You will have appropriate IT knowledge and experience in at least two of the major statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, BMDP, GLIM, GENSTAT, STATA and MINITAB) and good communication skills. Experience of clinical research and consultancy are desirable.
