Hello
You may refer some basic papers of Keifer ( 1958) and (1975 ) for some
information about Optimality Aspects of block designs
Sometimes the very definition of criteria provide its possible area of
application. For example A - Optimality is used in obtaining an optimal
design in situation of Comparing a set of test treatments with a standard
treatment. ( Ofcourse these deigns are otherwise known as Balanced Test
Treatment Incomplete Block Design given by Bechfoer and Tamhane. Such
desgins are widely used in industry and can also be used in Agriculture,
medical fields
I hope it may give some rough idea though it is not complete answer to your
query.
