Here is a summary of the responses I received in relation to the above.
Note there is some debate out there as to what is meant by the term
Nonlinear Regression ... some consider it to refer to fitting non-linear
functional curves ... others include techniques such as logistic regression
which belong to a family of techniques known as Generalised LINEAR models.
I was particularly interested in the former definition ... although I have
included
a good reference to GLM's in this summary.
The most popular ... by far reference ... was
Non-linear Regression Analysis and its Applications (Wiley Series on Prob. and
Math Statistics) Bates and Watt
Others referred to by more than one person ...
Non-linear Estimation (1990) Ross G.J.S., Springer-Verlag, New York. ISBN
0-387-97278-1.
Non-linear Regression (1989) Seber and Wild, Wiley
A Handbook of Nonlinear Regression Models (1983) D.A. Ratkowsky, Pub: Marcell
Dekker
'there is also another Ratkowsky book with Nonlinear Regression in the title'
Other Suggestions:
Regression Analysis by Example, Chatterjee and Price (1991)
Non linear Statistical Models, Gallant AR (1987), John Wiley and Sons 'Good
for Multivariate Nonlinear Regression'
Good chapter in Brown and Rottery (1994): Models in Biology, Wiley
An introduction to Generalised Linear Models, AJ Dobson, Chapman and Hall, 1990
Some WWW Sites:
www.statsoft.com/textbook/stathome.html .... I've found this site quite good!!!
