Dear colleagues,
If you have any final year students who might be interested in
doing an MSc in Statistics next year, could you please draw
their attention to the MSc in Statistics here at the University
of Kent? This generic statistics course is strongly supported
by EPSRC with nine postgraduate studentships. We aim to
allocate these to suitable strong UK candidates. (EU candidates
are also very welcome to apply for "fees-only" awards, but are
not eligible for the maintenance element.)
Students on the course get the chance to study a wide range of
different statistical areas and have the opportunity to
specialise in a specific area of interest to them through their
work on a summer project. The possible areas of specialisation
are wide ranging, generally reflecting the key areas of research
strength within the department, including Bayesian Statistics,
Biometry, Design and Analysis of Experiments, Environmental
Statistics, Medical Statistics and Nonlinear Time Series and
Chaos.
The diversity of the statistical topics studied during the
course is reflected in the variety of careers chosen by
graduates from the course. Over the past few years these have
ranged from careers within the pharmaceutical industry and other
commercial organisations to the Government Statistical Service;
other graduates have chosen to undertake further research leading
to careers in academia.
Further information about the course can be found from

Alternatively, your students would be very welcome to contact me
by post or email: the addresses are below.
Many thanks.
