RESEARCH LECTURER IN ENVIRONMENTAL EPIDEMIOLOGY
Applicants are sought for an academic staff (faculty) position at the
University of Birmingham to complement our substantial activity in
Environmental Science, Public and Environmental Health and
Epidemiology. The post is for three years initially, but the
opportunities for extension are excellent.
The buoyancy of our activities has created a vacancy for a Research
Lecturer in Environmental Epidemiology. It is expected that the
person appointed will play a major role in research work involving
both collaboration in existing projects and the development of new
programmes of research. Therefore an individual with a proven track
record in epidemiology or statistics is sought. The post has
developed from a collaboration between the Division of Environmental
Health and Risk Management, Department of Public Health and
Epidemiology, West Midlands Regional Cancer Intelligence Unit and
Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. There are no teaching duties
associated with the post. Specific areas of research in which
immediate participation would be welcomed include air pollution
epidemiology, contaminated land, and cancer epidemiology. Experience
of GIS would be advantageous, but is not essential. Brief details of
other staff members in the field are available through our web pages
(http://www.bham.ac.uk/ipeh and http://www.bham.ac.uk/publichealth/).
