Crop & Food Research is New Zealand's leading organisation for conducting research, developing technologies and providing services in the production of high quality products from field and glasshouse crops and seafoods.
The statistician will be one of two based at our Palmerston North site providing a service to researchers at both this site and other smaller sites predominantly in the North Island. Work at these sites involves sensory evaluation analysis, pest and disease control research, post-harvest storage and food quality, crop physiology and agronomy, molecular biology, and the development of crop simulation models and decision support aids. There are approximately 90 staff on site.
The appointee will provide specialist statistical advice to researchers, collaborate with staff in the design, analysis and interpretation of experimental data, participate in the reporting of research conclusions, and provide statistical training.
Applicants will have a tertiary qualification in statistics, the ability to communicate statistical ideas effectively, and familiarity with statistical software (preferably Genstat or S-Plus). Some relevant work experience would be helpful. An approachable personality and the ability to liaise with a wide range of people are also important.
