OR41 

National Conference of Operational Research Society

Pollock Halls, University of Edinburgh

September 14-16 1999

The UK Operational Research Society conference will be held this 
year in Edinburgh just two months after the Scottish parliament 
opens there, and we are sure there will be as much debate and 
new ideas floated in the former as the latter.  

The plenary speakers include
John Birge (President-Elect of INFORMS) 
David Quarmby (British Tourist Authority)
Gene Woolsey (Colorado School of Mining)
David Begg (Robert Gordon University and advisor to John Prescott)
Stein Wallace (University of Trondheim)
Yves Smeers (CORE)

Whether you wish to present a paper or simply learn what others are
doing, the streams at OR41 provide a variety of highly relevant topics.
Abstracts are still welcome from interested practitioners, members,
students, researchers and academics in the following areas:

Interested parties should send a note of interest to the relevant stream
organiser or Chris Barrett, Operational Research Society, Seymour House,
12 Edward Street, Birmingham B1 2RX by 1st March 1999
([log in to unmask]). Talks that do not seem to fit into an existing
stream should be sent to the Contributed Paper organiser Dr. T.W.Archibald,
([log in to unmask]) Department of Business Studies, University of
Edinburgh, Edinburgh, EH8 9JY. A note of interest should include title of
talk, preferred stream name, address, affiliation, telephone number, fax
number and e-mail address.

Full abstracts are required by 30th May 1999.  An abstract should be 50
to 150 words and contain no mathematical equations.  All abstracts must
have a title and subtitles are allowed.  This should be followed with
3-6 keywords.  The abstract should be followed by the name of authors,
full postal address, affiliation, telephone number, fax number and e-
mail address.  All abstracts should be sent by e-mail to the relevant
Stream Organiser or, if in doubt, to Chris Barrett at the Operational
Research Society ([log in to unmask]).
