The following position has recently been advertised by the Department of
Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Limerick.
LECTURER/JUNIOR LECTURER IN STATISTICS
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is one of three departments
comprising the College of Informatics and Electronics. It offers a Bachelor
of Science degree in Mathematical Sciences and Computing with specialist
options in Mathematics, Statistics, Computing, and Financial Mathematics. In
addition, the department is responsible for the teaching of mathematics and
statistics components of all other degree programmes in the University.
There is also a substantial programme of postgraduate research leading to
MSc and PhD awards. This research covers reliability, Bayesian methods,
survival analysis, epidemiology, spatial statistics, functional data
analysis, and quality control.
The successful candidate will possess a record of published research and a
clear committment to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A
doctorate is normally required together with lecturing and/or industrial
experience. Applications from candidates who have expertise and/or
experience in Financial Mathematics will also be welcome.
The salary scales in Irish pounds are as follows : Lecturer : £26,100 -
£42,838 per annum; Junior Lecturer : £19,679 - £24,615 per annum.
