Fixed term contract for three years in the first instance.
The postholder will be based at the UCLH Trust Headquarters in London W1.
The Directorate will move to new premises in NW1 during 1999.
The Research and Development Directorate at University College Hospitals NHS
Trust is looking to appoint a Medical Statistician with interests in Health
Services Research. This is a new post and provides an exciting opportunity
for a statistician/information analyst to develop their research skills and
publish the results of their work in peer-reviewed journals. The post holder
will have the opportunity to work on a number of ongoing projects in the
areas of hospital and general practice prescribing, cancer epidemiology, and
the management of chronic diseases in primary and secondary care. In
addition, the postholder will also have R&D management duties including, the
preparation of routine data, report writing and assisting the R&D
Directorate manager.
There will also be links with University College London through an honorary
lectureship or research fellow position in the School of Public Policy or
the Department of Statistics. Some postgraduate experience including
research work and teaching in a clinical environment is desirable but not
essential. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are needed as
is a sound knowledge of research methodology.
