LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICAL AND COMPUTING SCIENCES
Applications are invited for three positions in Computer Science
at the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer level, which have become available in
the School of Mathematical and Computing Sciences. The level at which
the appointments are made will be commensurate with qualifications and
experience. (A Senior Lecturer corresponds approximately to a US Associate
Professor, and a Lecturer corresponds approximately to a US Assistant
Professor).
Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science or be expecting to
complete a PhD in the near future. Strong applicants from all areas of
Computer Science will be considered but preference may be given to
candidates with interests in Systems or Databases.
Courses currently offered or being developed in Computer Science include
Database Systems, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Operating
Systems and Networking, Formal Methods, Neural Networks, and Principles of
Computer Games.
Candidates will be required to undertake research, and to be committed to
excellent and innovative teaching. The School of Mathematical and Computing
Sciences includes the disciplines, Computer Science, Mathematics,
Operations Research and Statistics. An interest in interdisciplinary
research would be desirable but not essential, and appointees will be
welcome to join any of the School's research teams.
Present research strengths of the School include, Software engineering,
Formal Methods, Computability and Complexity, Bayesian Methods,
Communications Engineering, Point Processes, Biometrics, Logic and
Combinatorics, Topology and Functional Analysis.
