I have consulted the DfEE about the year away fee, and about when we are
likely to hear about the home PG fee.
No firm decision has yet been made about the PG fee, but they are now aware
that we want to know asap.
The fee for students away for a year was set at £520 because the Teaching
and Higher Education Act 1998 provides that fee rate cannot be increased by
more than the rate of inflation without the consent of both houses of
Parliament. £510 x 2.5% = £522.75 so it was rounded down to £520.
