I am not sure about Pamela's interpretation with regard to the "old award"
students. If someone is not actually holding an old award currently, are
they an "old award" student? I suspect not, and that someone who had an
award for say 10 months ten years ago will be able to benefit from the new
rule. But I think we should ask the DfEE about this.
I have already made the point to the DfEE (through the CVCP) that there
may be difficulties with the twelve months running from 1 September, as a
student who fails re-assessments in September (or withdraws shortly
before) will have done more than twelve months, even though he has done
only one academic year. They are looking for a solution.
