The HEFCE Standard Resource (£2662 for this year) is the
same for both undergraduates and postgraduates (prior to
the addition of weightings for longer sessions, etc) and
includes an element equal to the tuition fee. Therefore
HEFCE must at least have a figure in mind that they will be
using in their calculations of University Funding which
will be out with Institutions late February/early March.
Presumably they will have talked to the Research Councils
about the most likely tuition fee. If this is the case
then it should be possible, if both HEFCE and the RCs are
willing, to let us all know the fee in February and stop
Institutions appearing to be stupidly inefficient.
