I wll ask the SLC whether a test file could be provided.
But the file structure is so simple that you should be able to create your
own from the spec which will be provided. The advantage of creating your
own is that you could include in it sample students which you know you can
match against your own data on UCAS number, some that you cannot match on
UCAS number and must match on name and date of birth, and some that do not
match at all because of eg minor variations in the spelling of the name. It
is the matching process which will need testing, and an SLC test file will
not give you data with which you can do that. You will probaly need to
create a test file of your own student data as well, against which to match
and add fee contributions and student support number.

Roger
many thanks for this comprehensive summary of what we will need to be
doing. I just have one suggestion at this stage which might be useful
for other HEIs as well. I would like to have access to a sample/test
electonic file from the SLC for us to use for testing purposes. I would
be very happy to contact them direct but I thought there may well be
several institutions who would appreciate this?
