Guidance on Student Employment
At the University of Bath the Student Money Service (part of the
University's Student Services) runs a JobLink scheme to assist students
in finding work. Our guidelines are that we advise students not to
undertake more than 15 hours paid work per week. This can be shaded in
certain circumstances where a student, for example, does paid work for
her/his Department within the University which might have some relevance
to the course. We are trying to develop the possibility of such work,
where possible, being relevant to a student's CV when seeking employment
(transferable skills et al.) but the implementation of that is some way
off and students' needs are immediate. We will not advertise work that
offers less than the minimum wage and we will not advertise work which
is purely commission based.
