Colleagues
The Student Loans Company has now had more detailed discussions with their
chosen cheque printing firm, and have come up with a revised suggestion for
the mechanics of students to sign for their loan cheques at the beginning of
the first term/semester. In essence, they want the cheque to be attached to
what amounts to a receipt, which the student signs. The student detaches the
cheque by tearing along the perforation, and we send the receipt back to the
SLC. Provided we merge the various batches of cheques we will receive from
the SLC, this will save us having to trawl through several lists to find the
place where the student will have to sign. So unless anyone can spot a
serious flaw in the scheme, I shall give it my blessing.
A draft of the receipt/cheque form is attached in Word 6 format.
Comments/problems to me please by the end of tomorrow (Wednesday)
