1)We receive 'doctored' certificates once or twice a year from prospective
employers/overseas authorities requesting confirmation of award. The efforts
are usually very obvious. (This seemingly large figure is proportionate to
the large number of certs we issue from this office for the 60 or so
Institutions of the University of Wales).
Our present policy is to request contact details for the "graduate",(usually
not a change in classification but a change in name) and hope to track them
down, but up until now, we have not managed to catch anyone.
I would be interested to hear of practice at other Universities.
2) We currently use "Second Class Honours, Division 2" on our certs.

Subject: fraudulent certificates
Has anyone had any experience of ex students 'doctoring'
their certificates and then using them for fraudulent
purposes. I would be interested to know what [if any]
action was taken. has anyone ever withdrawn a degree ?
Does anyone use 'Class Two Division Two' rather than Class
II on certs ?
thanks in advance
Marie
