I am currently working on College induction procedures for PG students and
would be very grateful if I could get an idea of the way other institutions
are handling this.
Do you hold centrally organised meetings at the beginning of term to convey
information about Finance, Computer Services, Language Courses etc to
Masters and Research students, or do you rely on the Departments to convey
information about central services during their registration/inductions?
If you do organise centrally, do you split by Faculty or by mode (ie taught
separated from research)? Research carried out here recently showed that
research students did not want to be mixed in with Masters students for
inductions, and preferred something specifically for them. Has anyone else
noticed this feeling?
