In case institutions aren't already aware, the 38 weeks mentioned in
the DfEE booklet is misleading. 'This additional allowance will
continue to be available in 1999/2000 but will be available as loan
for new students and 1998/99 entrants. The threshold of 30 weeks
and 3 days will continue to apply, and the special provision for
Oxbridge students is removed.' I'm quoting from p.6 of February's
Student Support Update, which those of who receive SSINs should also
get. Hope it clears this one up.
