At UEA we have three periods for payment for undergraduates and taught
postgraduates, four for research postgraduates (to coincide with the
quarter-dates on which they may register). For undergraduates and taught
postgraduates the dates for this year are: first, within 21 days of invoice
date, second, by 15 January, third, by 15 April. (Next year these dates
will need to be pushed back, because our academic year starts later, but
the principle will remain.)
So far we have not had too many problems with LEAs not completing the
assessment; the major problem has been with the DfEE and EU students. If
we are satisfied that the student has done his/her part, and the delay
really is with the LEA/DfEE, then we grant extensions to the payment date.
If the delay is the student's fault, then we are more likely to press for
payment. But we try to look at individual cases.
