The DfEE are looking for ways to pass on information to institutions
about the new arrangments for student support for 1999/2000. For
example, do HEIs find the SSINs useful or should these be
supplemented by such things as a series of regional conferences,
other printed material etc.?
Also, what are the gaps in people's knowledge? Are there particular
areas you still need information about? For example, in my own
institution we have recently been debating whom we will have to
inform about withdrawals, progress etc., (the LEAs, the SLC or both?)
and none of us, at the time, could give a definitive answer (I think
now that the answer is the SLC) . Are there other issues like this
which you are struggling over?
If you would care to let me have any answers to the above questions I
will collate them and pass them on to the DfEE.
