We did think it was strange on first sight, and will lead to inconsistencies
- we were charging our module rate at 1/8 of the total fee (we have 15
credit modules), but we're now using 1/4 of the 510 (otherwise the 1/8
module fee is 128.125)
I didn't think we could have 510 and 512.50 for different types of half
years.

Subject: Half Fee
Is everyone else comfortable with the fact that the DfEE's "half-fee" for
sandwich students next year is less than half the full fee (510 in relation
to 1025)?
We charge our part-time students according to credit load as a proportion
of the full time load. Our sandwich modules are worth exactly half the
credits of a full year's load. It therefore seems logical that we must
adopt the DfEE's arithmetic for all part-timers for the sake of consistency.
However, quite apart from all the pedants who are going to query our fee
information leaflets, at 2.50 pounds per student, a few hundred part-timers
are going to cost us the price of a new PC or a flatbed scanner or a few
days' clerical support, some new library books, a year's phonecalls to DfEE
. . . .. . . . . . .. .
hmm
