I managed to speak to two people at the SLC who both confirmed that
individual discs and bar coded confirmation of attendance reports will
be issued to institutions on Monday 6th December. The delay has been
caused by the fact that previous issues of the CDs had included fee
split information for every institution and quite rightly institutions
had complained about data protection! It has taken time for the SLC to
produce individual files and discs for each institution.
I am amazed by the incompetence of the SLC in not realising the
implications of making such sensitive information widely available, and
once again institutions are suffering the consequences. It is not our
fault that they got it wrong, and because we pointed it out to them, we
suffer!
When is someone going to do something about the SLC to get their act
together?
As for the extended deadline of 7th January for the return of the
confirmation of attendance reports, can anyone tell me how the SLC will
be able to authorise the payment of student's second term loan payments
on Monday 10th January if they only get information back from
institutions on the previous Friday?
