Hi Nick!
I was all set to accept your invitation and apply to join an asylum where I
could live in peace and tranquillity and where there would be NO students or
parents (unfortunately there would be bound to be some academics) -- until I
actually opened the email and read the message.
Unfortunately, I can't help you with your queries, since the only asylum
seeking student I've had experience of is in a very different situation - he
has been one of a number of students who came to Lancaster as part of a British
Council-funded programme, and by the time he actually applied for asylum he was
onto writing up fees (his application is still pending).
Lesley or Heather might have something more useful for you, but I thought I'd
take the opportunity to say hello, and please pass on my hello's to Kevin as
well! Hope you're having a good summer,
Roz
