Colleagues,
At ULH we are currently reviewing the level of grant and fees
allocated directly to Academic Departments.
We currently top slice the income in order to fund academic
support and central services. I should be interested to hear from
colleagues as to what percentage of top slicing takes place at
other universities or any variants on the model.
I understand from various sources that the level of funding across
the sector to Academic Departments ranges from 40% to 50% of
total grant and fee income.
In addition it would be interesting to know what the Academic
Departments in other universities are expected to fund from their
allocation e.g.
Staff pay
Supplies
Telephones
Room bookings
IT
Capital.
Any comments or observations would be gratefully received.
Regards,
Andrew.
