Janet,
We use a very simple spreadsheet to calculate the activity units when
making any returns to the FEFC. This year they supplied us with their
calculation using our HESA data put through the funding programme.
Since this produced slightly more units than our own we accepted it and
did not argue. BUT we have only two FEFC-funded courses and about 100
students funded so we can virtually check the data for every student
which ever way it is done. I have never thought it worth investing time
and effort installing the funding programme and working out how to
transfer and input data because of the very small number of students.
We have trained our auditors to accept that what we do is a valid way
of going about the return.
