Judy et al,
I can't but join in this email critism of FEFCE. As you may know we have a few fe students funded but many more not funded. The audit of fe costs nearly as much as we get in funding. The regional office for me is Manchester but they are less than helpful over most issues. The complexity of their system is beyond belief. The notion that they might insist on an ISR would I hope be resisted by all HEIs. I would be extremely cross if such a proposal gained credence. i remember a meeting in London when the fefce had completely forgotten that HEIs didn't complete an ISR and therefore we were unable to complete the DLE returns. The whole thing seems just a total mess from my end of the telescope.
Keep me informed of any further action or development.
regards to all who receive this

We receive funding from FEFC, and I am responsible for much of
the work in terms of co-ordinating bids and making returns.
Yes, we have seen the HESA data supplied to FEFC, and no, it
bears NO relation to what we have claimed. At a seminar a couple
of years ago run by FEFC with HESA present, HEIs made it clear
that HESA data would NOT provide FEFC with the equivalent to an
ISR, and I think this data confirms it. At a meeting this week
with our FEFC regional officer, she did 'hint' that they would
prefer HEIs to make ISR returns as well ... so much for HESA as
the one-stop data shop!
