I'm afraid I'm one of those people who still like the term "equal
opportunities", and think it is important
enough to keep the name for our committee. Diversity doesn't
recognize that there are still major inequalities in the workplace
and in HE. I know there are people who feel uncomfortable about
the words "equal opportunities", and that's why "diversity" has been
employed instead. But in my view, they're not the same, and
diversity doesn't work unless we have equal oportunities, anyway.
After all, we can be as diverse as we like, with all the black or
disabled people in junior grades.
Sorry, that won't get me the bottle, of course, and it's not all that
helpful. It's one of my "things" at the moment, and I wonder what
other people think.
Susanna.
