Hi all
some interesting bits from Architects Journal to interest the
accessibile orientated person.
Page 7 contains info on a competition to redesign Sutton Walk that
links London's South Bank to Waterloo station. My issue of concnern
here is that several of the proposals contain the idea of including
large distorted images on the walls. One of these suggestions is for
mirrored panels which will cause I suspect problems for those with
visual impairment and those with cognitive impairment to name just
a few. The proposals are on public dispolay from 14-11-99 although I
do not know where (I assume London) and the winner to be announced
8-12-99.
On a more positive note the case study in this AJ is on The Point, a
centre for young artists and performers in Doncaster by Groundworks
Architects. This refurbishment focuses particularly on accessibility
- pages 29-33.
