We are currently looking for reviewers to review the
following books for publication in the next issue of
Widening Participation and Lifelong Learning (due out at
the end of August). If anyone would be interested in

We are also calling for papers and shorter articles for the
innovative practice section of the Journal on access,
widening participation and lifelong learning.
SPECIAL ISSUE
A special issue will be published in the December issue on
Information and Guidance on education and career choice. As
the widening participation and lifelong learning movements
expand and gain momentum a key feature must be the
provision of information and guidance to potential
students. Research shows that potential students want more
information about the cost of education: fees, loans,
benefits and potential sources of financial support; the
economic returns to further and higher education, detailed
course information; specific job and career information and
much more besides. The decline of lifelong jobs and careers
and the need for a more flexible workforce increases the
need for education and careers guidance throughout people's
lives rather than only at the start of their working lives.
