Dear fellow-members
I am back in the UK for a while and thought it would be good to get
some discussion going. May I suggest that members post a brief
description of who they are, what they do, what their specific
interests are and so on?
If I could start the ball rolling:
I am a full-time research fellow in adult and continuing education at
the University of Glasgow and work mainly on European projects.
Currently I'm coordinating a follow-up to the Survey and Analysis,
Access to Vocational Guidance, a pilot inservice training module
delivered over the internet. In addition I'm a researcher on another
guidance project, Bridging the Gap in Women's Career
Development, and on a project on the legal status of women in the
European Union. I also moderate this list!
Although I took my first degree at the usual kind of age, I didn't
take my PhD till I was fifty and this is when I started a full-time
academic career (until then I spent several years working part time
in a variety of educational sectors, including ESOL, prisons, FE
and university including the OU).
My research interests are, essentially, social exclusion. I am a
sociologist.
Hope to hear from list members soon!
All the very best
Pamela
