About a year ago I had posted a notice to the group about an e-mail list
called Transport Communications which I manage. A number of UTSG list
members signed up, but I thought this would be a good time to provide an
update due to some changes that have taken place on the list since my last
post.
The Transport Communications list currently has over 490 members. As the
list's name suggests, its purpose is to provide news and share information
about communications in the transportation field. This includes all forms of
communications and all modes of travel.
The list differs from the UTSG list in that its focus is not primarily
academic. Most posts are related to services and projects such as travelers
information, traffic management and outreach by agencies to the public. In
that way I think it nicely complements the UTSG list.
Two major changes the list has had recently include a reduction in the number
of posts and an expansion to a more international focus and news from more
sources. The list averages about one message a day. Each message usually
includes several stories and links for further information. Previously most
posts on the list came from U.S. sources, but news from other areas is now
often provided and it includes articles from publications worldwide.
