The Second International Conference on:
Managing Enterprises - Stakeholders, Engineering, Logistics and Achievement
(ME-SELA'99)
Newcastle, Australia: 18 - 20 November 1999
CALL FOR PAPERS
Understanding the increasingly complex and rapidly changing business
environment requires an appreciation of both engineering and information
technology (hard systems) and enterprise planning, management and control
(soft systems), together with the ability to adopt appropriate enabling
technologies and business solutions.
The aim of the conference is to promote knowledge exchange between
specialists from Commerce, Industry and Academia, about innovative best
practice solutions in areas of Management, Engineering, Information Systems
and Logistics.
Contributions are sought from all stakeholders in the distributed
enterprise. Case studies, comparative analyses, reviews, and theoretical
investigations are particularly welcomed.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Professor Peter O'Grady from the Department of Industrial Engineering,
University of Iowa. Professor O'Grady is Director of the Iowa Internet
Laboratory with active research activities in collaborative systems for
design and manufacturing, 3D imaging for medical applications, remote
collaborative design for modular products, genetic algorithms for design
for assembly, object-oriented database systems, product visualization, and
distributed design.
Professor Nigel Shadbolt from the Department of Psychology, University of
Nottingham. His interests in research have evolved in two main areas and
are reflected in the groupings of his research projects. The first of these
is in the area of expert systems. Expert systems are artificial
intelligence programs which solve problems of real-world complexity in
domains usually covered by a human expert. Much of his research has gone
into developing the methods and principles for building such systems.
