SURVEY ADMINISTRATOR
Fixed term for two years
£17,921-£20,855 (under review)
Transport Research Institute (TRI), Napier University, Edinburgh.
Applications are invited from those with specialist skills in survey
techniques and data analysis to take responsibility for:
· designing, planning, conducting, administering and supervising
fieldwork, in the transport and social science areas
· undertaking statistical analyses of primary and secondary data
· planning investigations that enable national data-sets such as the
British Household Panel Survey to become more useful for transport
policy analysis
· advising on and undertaking the design, conduct and analysis of
transport/social science surveys, and contributing to the generation
of research grant and contract proposals
· appraising the content, quality and documentation standards of
existing survey data held by co-operating local authorities and other
organisations, and to propose such further investigations of these
data as would enhance insight into current transport problems
· providing advice and training in SPSS and other survey analysis
packages.
The TRI covers the transport research interests of all departments at
Napier University. Based with the TRI central team, the appointee
will be working across these departments. Applicants should be
willing to work on a variety of externally-funded projects, which they
can help to secure.
Applicants should have at least two years experience in the design,
application and use of survey techniques in the social sciences or
transport;, and should have or expect to obtain at least a first
degree or equivalent experience in the social sciences or in
statistical methods. The appointment is for two years in the first
instance, in the salary range £17,921-£20,855 (under review) according
to experience and qualifications. Equivalent part-time arrangements
may be possible.
