Come have a look at http://www.ecoplan.org/carfreeday/ and perhaps even share your information, views and thoughts with our small but informed and fast growing group.
And if you think that the idea of a Car Free Day is nothing other than more neo-yuppie hype, think again. A car free day, got right, can be a terrific planning and learning tool. And while it requires extensive preparation, painstaking negotiation, careful monitoring, and meticulous follow-up, it can be of great use to a community or city [...]46_29Apr199908:07:[log in to unmask] |

My name is César Abarca and I signed up in this list a month ago and I
have received a lot of interesting information during this time but I
have never write anything.
I just wanted to introduce myself and if anyone think I can help him/her
I would be pleased to do it.
I have started to work in the European Research Center of Ford four
months ago. My manager and I are the new the department called "Mobility
Research", we are trying to learn what the evolution in Europe in
transport and mobility can be.
Everybody know that the number of cars is going to increase, because
people want the independence and freedom your own auto gives to yourself
and we need to find a solution to traffic congestion, included car
manufacturers. My manager told me the first day that we must promote the
reasonable use of the car and now I am realising how important it is.
By the moment I am starting a project with the Madrid Public Transport
Consortia and three in England in some of the plants we have there
(Dunton, Southampton and Enfield) for the local problems they create in
the area and the problems for parking. We are trying car pooling (car
sharing in England), van sharing, public transport, cycling, entrances
design... depending the case through surveys, to give a pack of
solutions.
This is my first mailing list and obviously English is not my mother
language so sorry because of the errors I made.
Greetings,
César Abarca
