Lectureship in Transportation Modelling

Applications are invited for this new post to develop research and teaching
activity in transportation modelling, planning and related environmental
areas. An understanding of contemporary traffic modelling methodology is
desirable, including the use of SATURN, TRANSYT, ARCADY, TRIPS, COBA, NESA
etc. Applicants with a particular interest in microscopic simulation
modelling would be especially welcome. The successful applicant will be
expected to collaborate with academic colleagues (including a Royal Academy
of Engineering Visiting Professor in Engineering Design for Sustainability)
in the areas of transportation planning, systems analysis and logistics.
Opportunities also exist to undertake research and development in
collaboration with transportation practitioners and other external bodies
within the context of innovative transport planning proposals being
developed for the City of Edinburgh.
Salary is on Lecturer A/B scale, depending on age and experience.

Chair in Environmental Engineering & Sustainable Technology

Applications are sought for this newly-established Chair to develop the
Department's activities in the fields of environmental engineering and
waste management and in the emerging area of environmental sustainability.
Applicants will be required to have:
¨ an international reputation in their specialist research field
¨ a high quality record of publication
¨ the ability to attract significant research funding from industry,
research councils and other outside bodies
¨ a strong presence within the engineering profession
The successful applicant will be expected to provide:
¨ high quality research and academic leadership
¨ effective collaboration with industry
¨ a major contribution to the establishment and achievement of Departmental
objectives
¨ imagination and vision in curriculum design and delivery
