Nessie Graham, the widow of W.S.Graham, died peacefully in a nursing
home
on 27th May aged 87. Not only was she a constant indispensible
support to
Willie Graham through most of his career, indeed it might be said she
made
his career possible, but she also wrote poems herself. She wrote
very few
and they are all short and very like her husband's, but contrary to
what
you might expect in those terms, they are good. Greville Press
collected
and published them under the title SEVENTEEN POEMS a few years ago
(the
first edition was called "Fifteen Poems" but I discovered two more in
obscure 1940s magazines)
