Dear All Within Earshot,
I have been tacking together a set of brief remarks from certain poets and
persons interested in poets and all poesy, with the intention of
channeling a fairly fluid digest of e-mail that need not appear to have
involved too great a critical labour, but which may differ from more
regular e-banter at least in having been solicited. This starter pack I
name THE COMMUTER SKIM, and hereby offer to anyone at (of course) no cost
and with no lag. THE COMMUTER SKIM shall appear every tuesday, provided
there is sufficient interest both in contributing and in reacting to it.
It shall not contain any poetry, at least I suspect that it shall not,
other than excerpts persons may have quoted. Whether these racks of prose
might as it happens warrant that name anyhow, is feet on the ground or up
in the air, as you please. What's wanted most of all, now that the first
batch is boxed up and ready for its ear-bashing, is just that: critical
response of whatever flavour, remonstrative, congratulatory, digressive,
awe-stricken, anguished &c. So that future SKIMs can consist largely of
considered (or a bit considered) reactions to SKIM notes that have
appeared previously.
So: should you wish to receive THE COMMUTER SKIM, please e- me and say so.
The first name list includes (so far, and in alphabetical order) Andrea
Brady, Sam Brenton, Jordan Davis, David Hess, Ange Mlinko, Doug Oliver,
Mike Sperlinger, John Tranter, John Wilkinson. The whole compendium
should eradicate no more than, say, Midgham to Reading West.
SKIM IT AND SEE!
