I'm finding this conversation absolutely fascinating, and quite
beautiful, but I'm having trouble with some terms and words. And the
dictionary hasn't helped. And yes, I know I should go and read Husserl
and no doubt a number of others I don't know about: but for the moment
I'd just like to at least follow the argument. So, humbly I ask, could
someone explain to me in words of less than three syllables:
what is eidetic, in the sense Doug means? to do with form? I found
eidolon, image, phantom, from gr idol, but no eidetic.
and what is phronesis? (Peter) I found phrontistery, a deep thinker or a
place for thinking, so is it deep thought? Though I also found phrenesis
(frenzy).
and what precisely does origin mean in the context of this discussion?
I'm especially interested in Doug's desire to tease out and separate
presence and transcendence, which is a largely instinctive desire of mine.
Any illuminations gratefully received -
Alison
