I wish I had more time to contribute to some of this fascinating
discussion - I'm taking time off here to actually use my computer for
some work (the imminent birth of Masthead 3, mother doing well so far, of
which more later). However, I was struck by Keston's argument for a
plurality of exclusivities, which more or less reflects a feeling I have
- perhaps a contradictory one, but I don't see that it need be - in that
I desire to have my own tastes, preferences, nay, even prejudices: and in
the spirit of that feel discomforted where things appear to become
prescriptive rather than discursive. I guess, a version of "I disagree
with what you say, sir, but will fight to the death for your right to say
it." Or Kafka's "We must all be very kind to one another."
